Hey, guys!! Let me tell you about my experince becoming a teacher.
Last month our
class got a project to teach history to our friends. We were devided into
groups. One group consists of two person. I paired up with Joice. Together we
became the history teacher for a day. Our teaching material was the cold war. We
have never studied about it yet because it will be taught in the twelveth
grade. I knew that this material was boring. So I and Joice was confused and we
had to think how to make the class enjoyable.
We got
the outside class. It was very hard to make the students listen to us teaching.
They played or chatted with their
friends without paying attention to us,the teacher, during the explanation of
the materials. But when it came to the game, they were very excited. All of
them became silent after I announce that we would have a game and that the
winning team would get some rewards. I felt relieved for a moment. But soon they
went wild again. They shouted at us to begin the game quickly so they could get
the prize. Once again I felt down. We even got colded by Mam Hong because we
were too loud. So we told the students to be quiet or they wouldn’t get the
prize. They all became silent again. This time it was real as they listen to
the game rule and played it well. It seemed like they only aimed for the reward
-___- , but this way they would became active and without realizing they
already studied the material as they need to answer the question. After the game ended, as we promised, we gave
the winning team their prize that were Mayasi and Calci Bean. The other groups got
some Mayasi too for being active and participated well in the class.
Being a teacher is not as easy and as
simple that I used to think. After getting this experince I felt the hardship
being a teacher and how difficult it is to make the class enjoyable, to make
the students listen. But eventhough it was difficult, I really enjoy this
experience.
Thank you for reading. Until next time ^^“There are three things to remember when teaching: know your stuff; know whom you are stuffing; and then stuff them elegantly.” - Lola May
